Gurgò

Great wines from Sicily!

Since the first harvest in 1972, the winery has been constantly expanding and its wines are increasingly renowned, such as the Gurgò DOC wines, which are the perfect reflection of the passion and tradition of the work of the Sicilian vineyards.
Probably originating from Puglia, Grillo is the typical white grape variety of Sicily, also known for being an ingredient in the most famous Italian sweet wine in the world, Marsala. It is distinguished by its ability to withstand high temperatures and by its texture which gives white wines with body.
Although sometimes called Calabrese, Nero d'Avola owes its name to the town of Avola in the south-east of Sicily. The most renowned grape variety in Sicily, it needs a lot of heat, which is why it is often grown close to the ground. Of high quality, it is today vinified as a single varietal and produces wines with a strong character, an intense color, rich in alcohol and which have good acidity, which allows good aging.
