Clos du Rocher
A UNIQUE TERROIR, A SYMBOL OF EXCELLENCE
Clos du Rocher is an exceptional vineyard whose history dates back to the 19th century, when terraces of vines gradually replaced rock and scrub. Acquired in 1918 by Émile Obrist, this unique terroir, shaped by the landslide of 1584, offers permeable, ideally exposed soil, ideal for the cultivation of exceptional grape varieties. Mostly planted with Chasselas, which gives rise to an emblematic Yvorne cru, the estate also produces red blends of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as a rare sweet wine, Doral passerillé.
The Clos du Rocher is a symbol of Swiss winemaking expertise, and has won numerous awards, including in 2012 when it was voted best Chasselas in the world at the Mondial du Chasselas. Vinified by Obrist oenologist Léonard Pfister, and passionately nurtured by second-generation winemaker Martin Suardet, these exceptional wines perpetuate a tradition of excellence and respect for the terroir.
