Hervé Joyaux Fabre, owner, was born in Bordeaux into a family of wine merchants. When he arrived in Argentina in the early 90s to study the possibility of setting up a winery, he was impressed by the potential of Mendoza Malbec.
A visionary, he acquired old Malbec vines, planted in 1908, and built his winery, Bodegas Fabre, in the pure tradition of Bordeaux châteaux. His passion and know-how did the rest, allowing him to start producing exceptional wines in Mendoza and Patagonia.
The vineyard is located partly in the best production areas of Mendoza. They are cultivated using traditional methods that respect the the environment. The winery was built in Vistalba – Lujan 18 km north of Mendoza at an altitude of 1150m. It is surrounded by 37 hectares of Malbec vines.
The Patagonian vineyard is planted in the Alto Valle of Rio Negro. It is the southernmost vineyard in America. The Winery, for its part, is located in the state of Rio Negro 3km west of the city of General Roca
In both places, the harvest is done by hand and sorted on a table to ensure optimum quality of the grapes and therefore of the wine. Fermentations are carried out at a regulated temperature with frequent pumping over in order to ensure optimal extraction of tannins, thus guaranteeing a beautiful structure before being placed in barrels.
The wines of Patagonia, the southernmost tip of the world, benefit from a unique personality thanks to the harmonious balance offered by sunny days and cool southern nights on desert soil. The magic of the terroir gives the wines incomparable aromas and flavors.
Thanks to constant care and a personalized style, the Domaine's Crus reflect the alliance of modern winemaking, Bordeaux know-how and extraordinary terroirs in order to produce wines with a unique personality.
